Considering Pets When Reaching Agreements

When pets are part of the family, the needs of the pets matter – just ask any pet owner who is also involved in a divorce.

The Collaborative process (and other non-adversarial approaches to divorce) provides a forum for discussing the details of where the pet will reside, how it will be cared for, and other details. These details can actually be incorporated into the final agreement.

You can read more about this topic in “When Pets Are Part of The Family“, an article I wrote for the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois’ blog.
