As a law practice dedicated to helping people through one of the most significant and difficult changes in life, we are always looking for ways to aid this process. Recently, this led to our decision to move our office to a new space in Oakbrook Terrace that supports the work we do. (You can read more about it here.) Now, we are expanding our divorce mediation options.
In 2019, Patti Brooks joined our team as a paralegal and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA®). After spending 15 years in a family law litigation firm, she was ready to use her skills in a non-adversarial environment.
We are committed to helping people create their best life and encourage everyone – clients, colleagues and employees – to learn and grow in new directions. Patti embraced this mindset and, last fall, completed Northwestern University’s Divorce Mediation Training Program.
Patti’s experience as a Paralegal and CDFA® provides her with a framework for understanding, explaining and organizing the facts of a case so that both parties are grounded in reality. As a mediator, during conversations with the parties, she can generate multiple options with varying implications.
Patti’s decision to become a mediator and expand her role at Trinity Family Law is well-timed. Mediation is gaining in popularity as more and more people see the inefficiencies (and expense) of fighting over the details in court and through their attorneys. (You can read more about mediation, including what it is and isn’t, in this article.) With another mediator on staff, we have more flexibility when it comes to matching the needs of our clients with a mediator’s background and scheduling availability.
